The project title is: Balloon kyphoplasty: Economic model will support the Cranial & Spinal Technologies (CST) Operating Unit- for 6 months based in Dusseldorf with home working flexibility.
Medtronic delivers a broad portfolio to enable physicians to treat spinal disorders and trauma such as scoliosis, spine fractures with artificial vertebral discs, osteosynthesis material, navigation, robotics and more. One of these products to treat osteoporosis related spinal fracture (vertebral compression fractures, VCF) is balloon kyphoplasty. The results from Chen et al. (Chen AT, Cohen DB, Skolasky RL. Impact of nonoperative treatment, vertebroplasty and balloon kyphoplasty on survival and morbidity after vertebral compression fracture in the Medicare population. J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2013;95(19):1729-1736.) should be evaluated economically to show next to medical advantages the economic value in the German health care system.
- • Good understanding of basic health economics concepts- ideal study in BA or Master in Health Economic Policy
• Good understanding of healthcare systems and reimbursement policies in European countries, especially Germany
• Ability to conduct literature searches and good analytical skills to summarize findings
• Good communication and project management skills
• Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams
This project would provide an opportunity to apply health economics principles and contribute to strategic business within Medtronic. - Proficiency in English – written & spoken
• Very good German language knowledge required (data sources are mainly in German language)!
