Blue Ocean Barns, Inc. (BOB) is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation on a mission to solve the climate impact of cattle by working with farmers and food companies to commercialize and rapidly scale the production and use of our proprietary, algae-based livestock feed ingredient. Overview of the Project
BOB commercially cultivates the tetrasporophyte phase of Asparagopsis taxiformis, a filamentous red alga. At each stage of the cultivation and post-harvest process we collect a wide range of data to characterize the production process that are stored in an Airtable database. We make extensive use of Airtable interfaces, forms, and automations (implemented in Javascript) to link records and arrange data for analysis and model verification outside Airtable. We are seeking a candidate with knowledge of Airtable, Javascript programming, and data analytical skills.
Essential Responsibilities
- We are seeking a candidate who is capable of:
Airtable Administration:
- Onboarding new employees with Airtable access
- Termination of accounts when employees leave
- Setting appropriate permissions per user
- Oversight of invoices and billing
Airtable Data Maintenance:
- Archiving and backup of relevant data
- Designing, conducting, and improving data audits and quality checks
- Correcting data entry mistakes as necessary
- Improving table and field descriptions
- Modifying Airtable interfaces as production flows change
Airtable Automation's
- Streamlining, maintenance, and documentation of existing automation's
- Creation of unit testing for JavaScript automation's
- Production of tutorials and manuals for forms and automation's
- Development of new forms and automation's as needs arise
Scaling Airtable with Future Expansions
- Creating new synced bases as production expands
- Building connections to other BOB software products, e.g. Zenefits, Quickbooks
- Incorporation of environmental and research data into Airtable available through sensors and environmental data
Improving Post-processing Information Flow
- Curating Python post-processing scripts
- Designing and automating reports from post-processing (as needed)
- Improving graphical summaries of Airtable data
Experience & Abilities
- Airtable design and data entry (2+ years required)
- JavaScript programming (required, experience with Airtable automation's preferred)
- Basic statistical skills (required)
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (required)
- Python Notebooks (preferred)
